The primary sponsor is the Forest Stewardship Program, a partnership between the US Forest Service, Michigan DNR, and about 80 private sector foresters and wildlife biologists. The Forest Stewardship Program provides financial assistance and professional planning to develop a Forest Stewardship Plan that helps landowners manage their land and prepare for a timber harvest.
